DESCRIPTION:Join us for a series of Heritage Open Day tours exploring how S
 t Nicholas Priory was restored between 1912-1916. Due to the finding of ne
 w plans by consultant Harold Brakespear we now know the specifics of the e
 xtensive restoration that turned what had become five tenements with many 
 families and uses back into the grand guest wing of a medieval priory it o
 nce was and this is now told to the public for the first time. Come along 
 and see how much was done (and hidden) during the difficult years of the f
 irst world war and find out who had once lived in these lost rooms\, befor
 e the Priory was turned into the wonderful showpiece it is today.\n\nThese
  tours are at 2pm and should last an hour or so.\n\nDirections\nSt Nichola
 s Priory is on Mint Lane with walking access from Fore Street or Bartholom
 ew Street West.\n\nThe nearest car park is Mary Arches Street\, which is a
  five-minute walk. Exeter Central railway station is a ten-minute walk.
  The bus station is a 15-minute walk with many buses stopping on the High
  Street which is ten minutes away.\n\nAccess\nUnfortunately\, due to the n
 ature of this historic building\, there is no wheelchair access for our up
