 ith us in style! Flute Cake\, our fabulous flute trio\, is joining us for 
 a very special evening of music and celebration. With fizz and decorations
 \, we'll ring in the New Year with beautiful music in Exeter's oldest buil
 ding.\n\nFor Flute Cake\, the recipe for a perfect occasion is: ten scoopf
 uls of well-loved classical and popular melodies\; mixed with generous dol
 lops of glamour and style\; seasoned with excitement and served in a stunn
 ing venue! So what could be better than a Flute Cake New Year’s Eve cele
 bration at St Nicholas Priory? We have a special mixture of festive music\
 , popular classics and beautiful melodies\, that will lift your spirits jo
 yfully into the New Year.\n\nPre-concert Reception:\n\nThe Undercroft will
  be turned into a bar area and we'll open our doors at 6:30pm  for you to
  start your New Year's celebrations before the concert. You can pre-order 
 drinks and snacks. During the interval and after the performance there'll 
 be time to chat and roam the building\, and refill your glass in the Under
 croft.\n\nDress code: we want this to be a special evening\, so would like
  to encourage you to come smart-casual. We'll certainly make the most of i
 t and dress up for the evening!\n\nAdvance ticket: £22.00\n\nOn the door

 his event.\n\nFlute Cake are a trio of flautists -  Sophie Brewer\, Jenni
 fer Campbell and Ruth Molins – who perform on the whole flute family: pi
 ccolo\, concert flute\, alto flute and bass flute. Their repertoire includ
 es around 200 unique arrangements by Jennifer of music from folk\, films\,
  jazz\, pop and classical idioms\; as well as original works by composer o
 ld and new\, including work commissioned for them such as Ancient Rites by
  Andrew M Wilson and Butterfly Tunes by Sam Richards. They have a wealth o
 f performing experience at venues such as Budleigh Classical Music Festiva
 l\; the Creative Innovation Centre in Taunton\; Bampton Fair\; many weddin
 gs\; regular nursing home performances\; Exeter Respect Festival\; Exeter 
 Food Festival\; a performance of ‘The Night of the Storm and the Rain’
  by Sam Richards on a cliff top at Hallsands with a grand piano\; Classica
 l Café in Kentisbeare\; and many more. Bringing joy to audiences\, listen
 ers often express delight at how Flute Cake can recreate the sound of an e
 ntire orchestra.\n\nSophie Brewer has led a musical life since childhood\,
  being involved in award winning ensembles\, receiving music scholarships 
 for specialist music schools and performing in small and large scale conce
 rts across the globe. Sophie studied music at Exeter University\, and cont
 inues to study flute with Judith Hall\, achieving distinction in her LTCL 
 diploma. She performs locally in a variety of groups including the flute t
 rio Flute Cake\, the piano duo PianoFlaute and is principal flute for Exet
 er Symphony Orchestra.  She also performs in a variety of freelance orche
 stras and pit bands across the South West. When not performing Sophie work
 s as a Business Operations Manager and offers freelance Business Support s
 ervices across all industries\, although with a keen interest in the arts 
 and charity sector.\n\nJennifer Campbell is Flute Cake's arranger-in-resid
 ence! When not performing she works as an instrument repairer for Devon &a
 mp\; Torbay Music Education Hubs\, fixing everything from flutes to double
  basses. Jen also plays the clarinet\, sax and oboe\, and is often found l
 urking in orchestra pits in theatres across the South West.\n\nRuth Molins
  is a founding member of Flute Cake\, Marsyas Quartet\, Zephyr Duo\, Volo 
 Trio and part of the collective A Quiet Night In. Devon-born\, she believe
 s in the value of high quality\, professional music within the local commu
 nity. She performed as a soloist with Exeter Symphony Orchestra in 2012 (R
 utter\, Suite Antique) and again in 2015 (Mozart\, Concerto for Flute and 
 Harp). She has been featured on Phonic FM\, Soundart Radio\, BBC Radio Dev
 on and BBC Radio 3. In 2019 she curated and performed the Flute@37 concert
 s\, a series of intimate performances given from her own music studio. Dur
 ing the 2020 lockdown\, she gave live-streamed performances of Les Chants 
 de Nectaire by Charles Koechlin\, connecting weekly with listeners world-w
 ide. In 2017 her composition\, Make Room was performed at Waterstones\, Th
 e Glorious Art House and Studio 36 in Exeter. Ruth teaches flute at Exeter
  School and privately. In 2021\, Ruth was invited by Pearl flutes artist\,
  Elizabeth Walker\, to record a performance video with practice tips\, as 
 part of the Fürstenau Challenge project.\n\n\nDirections\nSt Nicholas Pri
 ory is on Mint Lane with walking access from Fore Street or Bartholomew St
 reet West.\n\nThe nearest car park is Mary Arches Street\, which is a five
 -minute walk. Exeter Central railway station is a ten-minute walk. The 
 bus station is a 15-minute walk with many buses stopping on the High Stree
 t which is ten minutes away.\n\nAccess\nUnfortunately\, due to the nature 
 of this historic building\, there is no wheelchair access for our upstairs
