DESCRIPTION:Come visit St Nicholas Priory for a special Heritage Open Day g
 uided tour showing how the ancient monastery \, which in the Victorian era
  fell into disrepair and was described as 'a mere rookery of tenements' wa
 s saved. This tour will talk about not only what physical changes took pla
 ce during the 1912-16 restoration\, but also discuss the various people wh
 o were involved\, such as the Architects\, the Town Clerk and even the May
 or of the time. All these steered the project through the difficult days o
 f the First World War which at times threatened the project entirely.\n\n\
 nThe tour should last approximately 45 minutes with additional time built 
 in for questions.\n\n\nThis tour is free and you do not need to book\, but
  please arrive at least 5 minutes before the tour so it can start on time.
 \n\n\nDirections\nSt Nicholas Priory is on Mint Lane with walking access f
 rom Fore Street or Bartholomew Street West.\n\nThe nearest car park is Mar
 y Arches Street\, which is a five-minute walk. Exeter Central railway st
 ation is a ten-minute walk. The bus station is a 15-minute walk with many
  buses stopping on the High Street which is ten minutes away.\n\nAccess\nU
 nfortunately\, due to the nature of this historic building\, there is no w
 heelchair access for our upstairs rooms.\n\nFacilities\nOur outdoor toilet
