DESCRIPTION:Katherine Ashley was arguably the most important person in youn
 g Elizabeth’s life. For nearly thirty years she was her mentor\, close f
 riend\, and confidante. However\, many depict Katherine\, widely known as 
 Kat\, as a rather foolish figure. People even question her true identity. 
 In this talk\, Rosemary Griggs will challenge long-held myths and assumpti
 ons. Drawing on her extensive research\, she will reveal how a girl from a
  well-connected Devon family became a highly political and influential wom
 an\nDoors at 2:30pm for 3pm start\nRefreshments available. \nDirections\n
 St Nicholas Priory is on Mint Lane with walking access from Fore Street or
  Bartholomew Street West.\n\nThe nearest car park is Mary Arches Street\, 
 which is a five-minute walk. Exeter Central railway station is a ten-min
 ute walk. The bus station is a 15-minute walk with many buses stopping on
  the High Street which is ten minutes away.\n\nAccess\nUnfortunately\, due
  to the nature of this historic building\, there is no wheelchair access f
 or our upstairs rooms.\n\nFacilities\nOur outdoor toilet block can be made
