SUMMARY:All Hallows’ Performance of “In The Stones” – a new play fo
r St Nicholas Priory by Troubadour Stageworks
DESCRIPTION:\n\nAs part of our All Hallows’ day of music\, tales and fun\
, Troubadour present this new play that weaves folklore\, history\, myth a
nd music into a tale adapted for St Nicholas Priory!\n\nIt is dusk\, and C
hilde Rowland and his sister Burd Ellen are whiling away time outside the
priory. When Rowland throws a ball high over the building\, he and his sis
ter race for it – each taking one side of the building. Childe Rowland r
uns left – clockwise – but Burd Ellen goes ‘widdershins’ – anti-
clockwise\, and vanishes.\nChilde Rowland retrieves the ball\, but finds h
imself alone. Burd Ellen has fallen into The Other Side of Things – a
parallel world that lives in the stones of the priory\, where all the stor
ies and scenes of past long gone meld and replay continuously. Out of sync
\, out of time.\nThis October\, Troubadour Stageworks presents a new play
that explores the world of local folklore around us.\nUsing music\, local
customs and strange stories the narrative slips seamlessly through time an
d brings to the priory\, vibrant with local lore\, a new flash of inventiv
e drama. Suitable for all ages.\n\n\nSt Nicholas Priory\n\nFounded by Will
iam the Conqueror in 1087\, St Nicholas Priory was home to Benedictine mon
ks for over 400 years and is the oldest building in Exeter. In 1536\, like
other monasteries\, it was closed and the remains became the home of weal
thy Tudor merchants.\n\nDirections\nSt Nicholas Priory is in Mint Lane wit
h walking access from Fore Street or Bartholomew Street West.\nThe nearest
car park is Mary Arches Street (5 mins). Parking at Smythen Street and Ha
rlequin Shopping Centre is also available.  Exeter Central railway statio
n (10 mins). The bus station is a 15-minute walk away with many buses stop
ping on the High Street (1o mins).\n\nAccess\nUnfortunately\, only the gro
und floor of our building is wheelchair-accessible.\n\nFacilities\nAccessi
ble loos and nappy-changing facilities.\n\nIf you have any questions or co
ncerns about your visit\, please email admin@nicholaspriory.com\n\n
