DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nThere was a time when ‘to harp’ meant to speak\, when
  harpers travelled the length and breadth of the country telling stories a
 nd singing songs. As they travelled\, the stories and the songs they carri
 ed with them were shaped by the places they went\, by the roads they took 
 and by the wind that blew them.\n\nOver the last 18 years Nick been develo
 ping a vibrant and exciting style of performance harpers of old would reco
 gnize. Drawing deeply from the wellspring of traditional sources\, this pe
 rformance of song and story re-interprets the material for a modern 21st c
 entury\, with powerful and evocative language and an innovative style of h
 arp playing.\n\nNick is an internationally acclaimed storyteller\, playwri
 ght\, folk singer\, songwriter and musician. He has told stories for more 
 than 20 years\, performing at venues such as the South Bank Centre and Roy
 al Albert Hall. He is particularly drawn to North European cultural tradit
 ions and has been awarded high honours in Finland for his work on their Na
 tional Epic\, Kalevala. He has broadcast  documentaries for BBC Radio 4 a
 nd his musical work has featured on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction.\n\nThis

 y is on Mint Lane with walking access from Fore Street or Bartholomew Stre
 et West.\n\nThe nearest car park is Mary Arches Street\, which is a five-m
 inute walk. Exeter Central railway station is a ten-minute walk. The bu
 s station is a 15-minute walk with many buses stopping on the High Street 
 which is ten minutes away.\n\nAccess\nUnfortunately\, due to the nature of
  this historic building\, there is no wheelchair access for our upstairs r
 ooms.\n\nFacilities\nOur outdoor toilet block can be made available on req
